Students will have their choice of completing one of the following two assignments.
Option 1: The Geological Time Scale Diagram The geological time scale is used by geologists, paleontologists, and other Earth scientists to describe the timing and relationships of events that have occurred during Earth’s history. The diagram to the right is a visual representation of how scientists break up time. Students should use the diagram to recreate the geological time scale using colored pencils, colored paper, etc. When done, I will look over students work and ask three verbal questions. Each question is worth 5 points. Option 2: Geological Timescale Activity Click on the button below to access the activity. Background Knowledge: Similar to the way we refer to time as seconds, minutes, hours, etc; scientists break up vast timescale of earth's history into a strata starting with the succession of eras, periods, and epochs.
